Somos Unos - We Are One
The Art of Multi-Cultural Mentoring

A Youth Arts festival ~ two days of fun celebrating unity through diversity in northern New Mexico ~ on Saturday & Sunday, July 24 & 25, at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center outdoor courtyard. All events are FREE to the public.

Governor Bill Richardson and Santa Fe Mayor David Coss have issued a proclamation that the week of July 18-24th be recognized as
Celebrating the Creativity of the Youth of New Mexico and the Vitality of Mentoring in the Arts and Culture. New Mexico is famous for its cultural and artistic traditions and this event will place the art of mentoring front and center as we nourish the next generation of leaders in the arts and culture.

The Festival will showcase many of New Mexico’s most dedicated arts mentors and their students. Free hands-on workshops and performances, from flamenco to clowning, to making tortillas, will run from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. The Performance Stage will feature cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary performances and workshops with groups including

Dancing Earth-Contemporary Indigenous Dance
National Dance Institute
Circo Latino Youth Ensemble
Hands Across Cultures Poets
Carlos Contreras Poetry Slam
Moving People Dance Española and Santa Fe

Wise Fool New Mexico
Los Niños de Santa Fe Mexican Folklorico
Mariachi Del Sol de Española
Teatro Paraguas
Holy Faith Break-dancers
The Next Generation Flamenco Ensemble with Maria Benitez
and many more!

Also included in this event will be an exhibition featuring the work of six well-known New Mexico artists: Andy Garcia, Armando Adrian Lopez, Faye Viarrial, Roger Montoya, Rulan Tangen and Stephanie Huerta. Their work ranges from dance and storytelling to painting and sculpture.
A special screening of We Are the Music will be presented by the Santa Fe Symphony.
Community partners of SOMOS UNO include the City of Santa Fe, the City of Española, Santa Fe Community Convention Center and the Santa Fe 400th committee.
